Strategies For Preventing Shoulder Injuries When Losing Body Fat

The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in the body, but this mobility comes at a price. You see, the shoulder is extremely vulnerable to injury.

And most people are increasing their risk for injury with the type of workouts they do.

Thus, here are 6 ways to preserve your shoulders when getting in shape:

1. Optimize your desk: A surefire way to increase your risk for shoulder injury is by working from a non-ergonomic desk. Do this and you will develop a forward hunch. And keep in mind that forward hunches can eventually pinch your rotator cuff.

2. Be careful with overemphasizing pushing movements: If you push too much you will further decrease the space for your rotator cuff and you will make a forward hunch worse. A better approach here is to make sure you workouts focus more on pulling.

3. Make your supraspinatus strong: Off all the rotator cuff tendons, the supraspinatus is most susceptible to injury. This happens because it lies between your shoulder and collar bone. So a good approach here is to increase the space in this gap and to make the muscle itself strong.

4. Go easy on overhead pressing and bench pressing: Both of these movements place a lot of stress on your AC joint. And once your AC joint wears out, there is no way to get it back. The only solution at this point is surgery to shave off the end of the end of your clavicle.

5. Make sure you posture is perfect: The best way to do this is by having an expert asses your posture. Don’t try to save money here. You are far better off getting a good assessment here so that you can preempt any potential shoulder damage.

6. Pull with a reverse grip: Make sure that the majority of your pulling is with a reverse grip. This type of grip will place the majority of stress on your lower trapezius. And this muscle is responsible for keeping your shoulders back and for increasing space for your rotator cuff.

Take action today to keep your shoulders healthy. If you do, you can rest assured that your shoulders will stay healthy for many years to come!
