The worlds most famous speed reading course is Reading Dynamics developed by Evelyn Wood. Its famous for teaching people to read faster, or speed reading as she called it. Her live course was the first known course that taught students to read faster and it started with about 25 hours of training to double the reading speed.

Over time the system was made available all over the world. These well practiced techniques teach students to read more rapidly, and also comprehend more of what they are reading. These techniques have proven to be repeatedly effective with all ages in many countries around the world.

There are many stories about how Evelyn Wood first learned speed reading. My personal favorite was that she, as a child, was fishing at a nearby lake in Utah where she was living. To Evelyn, fishing was a relaxing necessity, but her mind was always active.

Here is another great article Photovoltaic Panels or Solar PV Panels

When fishing, she took a book to read until she saw that the float on the fishing line was bobbing. Then shed reel in the fish. It was said that she read with the sun at her back for natural light, and used her index finger on her dominant hand to track under the words she was reading.

Whenever a fish bit, she just put down the book and started fishing back again. That’s how it all started.

As she got older, she went to the University of Utah where one professor read and graded her 80-page research paper in just ten minutes. This came to 2,500 words per minute. He didn’t know how to tell his student what made it so he could read fast, nor how he developed his ability. He just read and could understand very quickly and efficiently.

Challenged by the potential to read that fast, Evelyn researched and studied fast readers to see if she could improve her reading speed and comprehension too. Then, she began to teach students herself, she figured out that it could be favorable to them if she passed her skills on.

The desire to read faster and comprehend more is Universal. People all over the world were fascinated in, what turned out to be, Evelyn’s own techniques for speed reading and comprehension. As she expanded her research and investigation of speed reading, she found people from different parts of the world reading 1,500 to 6,000 words per minute. All had an impressive level of comprehension proven by their knack for recalling specifics of the text.

She catalogued what each of them did to read faster and she found that each had their own traits and all of them had multiple traits in common with the others. These included:

1. Words were seen, and read, in groups. 2. Readers identified patterns and key words when they scanned text, quickly identifying the purpose and theme behind the writings. 3. Readers also sped up or slowed down with the simplicity or complexity of the reading materials. This permitted them control of levels of comprehension.

Based on this the Evelyn Wood program was developed. Techniques were developed and tested.

In 1959, she was proficient and prepared enough to develop a system that would teach others to speed read as well. Later that year, she opened the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics Institute in Washington DC. John F. Kennedy was the first president to have his White House staff trained by the Evelyn Wood techinque.

Today, the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics Institute no longer exists in the US. The rights were sold off to various publishers to market as courses, self-taught, and the remaining Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics teachers have private instructional practices. Some teachers are still healthy enough in their mid 6os and 70s to still teach the original technique.

Today, the few remaining teachers have departed their secrets to others, who have put the courses online for you to study. Though, you might learn from itinerant speed reading instructors who often teach classes at community colleges, or private corporations throughout the US and beyond. In New Zealand, Australia, and Western Europe, some offices of the original Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics have survived the creator who past on over 20 years ago.

Since the 1990s, courses became available in audio, video VCR, and later, DVD, adding a convenience that Evelyn could never have even dreamed of when she first taught. Faster reading with greater comprehension can be obtained by students around the world by using the system that Evelyn Wood invented while fishing one sunny day. To find Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics courses, check with www.speedread.org, they carry the audio and video versions to help you double your reading speed and achieve far greater in life.

Get the quick-learn program that teaches collegestudents Get Straight A’sGet Straight A’s, and Learn to Get Great Grades Free reprint avaialable from: Who Invented Speed Reading?.

No related posts.

Just use these hints and you\’ll increase your reading speed:

You can read lines of text, more easily, by reading groups of words at one time than reading a single word, and your reading speed will increase when you just widen your eye span (peripheral vision).

1. Techniques will teach you have to activate hand-to-eye coordination, then you\’ll be speed reading quickly and immediately. Improve your reading abilities for business or personal use with just a little practice. You can double, even triple your current rates of reading without hurting comprehension or retention.

Find another great article Find Press Release » Boat Gear - Some Hints To Help You Get Equipped

Different speed reading methods for different kinds of reading material:

1. Fiction, especially romance novels. Try speed reading a hot and passionate love scene. You can\’t! I don\’t speed read romance novels. I don\’t know anyone who does.

2. Non-Fiction. Speed reading is perfect in this dimension. Where there is something to learn that is not based on hot emotions speed reading is great. And it comes in various forms. Newspapers with narrow columns, magazines, with slightly wider columns, books, computer screens, and in the mail and email.

Slow readers struggle. They can\’t identify the methods to success and they struggle due to slowing down to identify words that don\’t understand — they will see a particular word, slow down, think about the meaning, then restart the reading process. Perhaps they won\’t sound out all of the words they\’ve been reading, but they will spend more time on some phrases than others. Because, they are just skimming across those small sections that are easy to understand.

Creating balance in comprehension and reading speed is what gives us our base reading speed. You will also need to establish a base-line reading speed for what you read the most. There are different techniques for different types of reading, with varying speeds, and comprehension rates.

Study speed reading, and practice with the exercises, they will improve your reading speed drastically with practice. But, before you begin practicing the actual speed reading techniques, that will learn in The Complete Speed Reading Program, let me suggest that you learn to coordinate your eye-to-pacing finger movement.

In the beginning proposes you reread the same material over and over, until you develop a well-coordinated reading speed. When you feel comfortable with it, your rate of speed will increase almost immediately almost 50%. Then, once you are comfortable practicing at that rate, move on to more advanced techniques that will increase your reading speed further.

Take in mind:

1. You will be reading very fast (scan read) pre-reading for important factors 300%.

2. You should use a 50% over normal rate when reading for information overload.

3. Post-read for quick review will be fast reading; just a fast scan. 300-400% faster.

4. For testing, scan before get ready for tests your rating speed will be medium fast 200%.

That\’s how easy it will be. Your mind will be trained to be the perfect learning machine. Just start right now with Complete Speed Reading Course, a beginner course, and intense in-depth program, and audio reinforcement. Guaranteed to bring you greater success.

Get the self-taught course that teaches collegegrad students Get Straight A\’sGet Straight A\’s, and Learn to Get Great Grades Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

No related posts.

People sometimes get frustrated because they fall behind when reading and learning due to the huge amounts of reading material they must absorb for school or work. So many books are being written worldwide, that readers sometimes have difficulty keeping up with the production of fiction and non-fiction works. It can be really amazing trying to keep up with it all ” dont you think.

In the rapidly changing and highly aggressive business world, with new products and services, and new upgrades introduced every week, speed reading really comes in handy. Most corporate millionaires now read two or three business related books every week. Thats a lot of work for those unfortunates who don’t have speed reading abilities.

SPEED READING enables people to learn up to twice or three times what they normally read in the same time.

If you like this article see Free Article Directory » Automatic Responder Software – Entrepreneurs Best Friend

Reading researchers in the past determined that the brain is competent of comprehending and cataloging from 10,000 to 50,000 units of information every minute. The length of a unit is about one word. The body’s five senses are receptors for data, which it transfers to the subconscious mind to be recorded for posterity. When the conscious mind needs information, it is recalled from the subconscious. Then it surfaces the necessary data for processing and use, much like a computer.

An interactivity exists between the brain, which well just imagine is the computer CPU, and the mind which consists of thoughts and memories. All data gets processed in such a way that we can learn it.

The information that we receive, process and evaluate comes from our five physical senses. With that data, our mind makes decisions, choices and judgments. We learn through our five senses (i.e. sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste), which are already pre-programmed to respond automatically.

A good example of pre-programmed response: Consider the example of the teen boy who smells pizza and what his reaction is. It is similar to Pavlov’s dog, because his senses send a message to the brain in the form of a brain-work.

The perception of feeling our favorite food is a mental exercise, compared to the reaction of swallowing which is physical. Therefore, brain and mind is where the action is and the body is where the reaction is.

Learning this method of speed reading will encourage the use of three of the five senses. That is a method that will strongly influence your mind to remember, recall and understand; beyond that, well teach you Methods for becoming a better and more efficient reader.

Follow the instructions and you will turn into a speed reader who loves to read and improve the quality of his or her own life. We expect great, positive successes from you with great improvements in many areas of your life.

Statistics: The average American high school graduate (I know this sounds strange, but many are graduating without the ability to read at an eighth grade level), reads at about 200 words per minute. A college student reads 20% faster at 300 words per minute. It does not matter what your baseline or starting reading speed is, your potential reading speed after using these techniques will be faster and your potential is truly unlimited. This is because scientists who have researched the human brain/mind agree that our potential is unlimited. Double-triple-quadruple your reading speed, theres no limit.

You can expect to learn how to get your greatest potentials as a reader, business person, student, etc. This is because you’re becoming an avid speed reader and a complete success in life.

Be Dynamic Through Speed Reading will help you become totally unlimited in your power and ability to do, be, and have all that you desire in life, whether its great grades or financial success. Dr. Jay Polmar is the Master of the art of speed learning, accelerated learning and speed reading and has helped over 100,000 students worldwide become perfect learning machines.

Success is at hand.

How do we teach to each other? How is it that we were taught everything that we now know?

At some points in history, knowledge was elitist and even a forbidden concept. In 399 BC, Socrates explained that he was known as the wisest of all men since he understood that he only knew about nothing. Socrates was ultimately executed because of his unyielding questioning to the Athens population to find out how they knew what they knew.

Today, we still ask Socrates questions and have yet to fully understand the answers; nevertheless, technology is bringing us closer and closer.

If you like this article see Boat Gear - Some Hints To Help You Get Equipped | Online Marketer Hub

Science and technology discovered is that the human brain is capable of processing from 10,000 to 50,000 units or single words in one minute. But, these are older statistics from the 1980s, but new technology studying speed reading combined with brain development research indicates that you can most likely read even faster. Most high school graduates read 200 words per minute, down from 252 wpm from 25 years ago. College students, only one or two years older, have improved to 120% words per minute simply from having to read so much and the brain practicing reading so much. Regardless, of your beginning reading speed “it increases for 50-60% the first day is more than likely, in two days of reading practice ” youve doubled your reading speed.

The brain is a computer composed of human organic materials. If you were to consider your brain as the hardware (CPU = Central Processing Unit or a computers own brain) and your mind (the thoughts you think) as the software, you wouldnt be far from what the scientists evaluating the brain believe; that the mind and brain are component parts of our physical bodies is to give us an efficient way to determine more things.

The human mind is connected to our physical bodies to make life more useful for us to learn and thrive. This amazing tool allows us to absorb a universe of knowledge in many different ways.

Childhood education creates the first limitations to reading ability. Heres what the first two years usually look like to a young learner of language: 1. First, we are introduced to the alphabet and how each letter sounds. 2. Then, we move on to put letters together into syllables and hear their unique sounds. 3. Later, we formed words and their individual pronunciations. 4. Then, we progressed to sentences and lastly paragraphs, which we read loudly.

In that learning method, we move our lips slowly and carefully so that we would pronounce each syllable and each word clearly. There were entire classes dedicated to learning how to read out loud.

We did pronounced every single word correctly, and then we were praised by our teacher and we felt the thrill and excitement because we were learning so well. Soon, it was determined that we could indeed read, so we no longer read in the classroom out loud. Most of us, however, were still concentrating on the syllables and reading each word out loud to ourselves for confirmation. This phenomenon, called sub-vocalization, is what causes us to have the 200-300 words per minute limitation to our reading speeds in high school and University. Interestingly, its the same speed at which most people talk (unless you live in the Southern US and have learned the Southern Drawl that slows you down even more).

Theres been research to show that high school students that use speed reading techniques can double their reading speed. When these techniques are practiced on a regular basis, the results are even more impressive.

With the power of the brain and mind combined, you can stretch out and achieve far greater abilities. In fact, the quantity of words that can be read per minute has no bounds. It is only a persons inner voice that can limit us, stop us and confuse us while reading or studying.

These voices tend to Babble On while you are struggling to perform tasks, such as reading. It is that same voice, that can make you panic before an exam. It is only when you quiet this Babblers voice that you can truly transfer and speed read material at a phenomenal rate.

SPEED READING can assist you to overcome slow reading habits developed from your early education. You can then retrain yourself to read faster.

It is remarkable how your brain and mind have the ability to absorb thousands of bits of information in a small amount of time. You are like many people that read slowly on account of early education. You are slowed down when you are mouthing syllables and words. Even though you have developed these bad habits in early education, its great to know that from this moment on, you can retrain yourself to be a powerful SPEED READER and your potential is limitless.

One benefit of Speed Reading is that it can assist you in reading and understanding written information much quicker. Speed Reading is useful in careers, especially where you are required to master large volumes of information quickly. Many people run into burn out from information overload. Speed Reading assists you to absorb and retain, for later recall, all the information that you read.

Teach your child to become top performers in University and in the Business World.
